World TV
World TV Ltd. launched in June 2000 and in association with the satellite
digital service on SKY Network Television Limited (SKY). World TV Ltd.
(WTV) broadcasts 24 hours daily in 10 channels throughout New Zealand.
We have programmes coming from mainstream media in China,
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
WTV has been fulfilling the need of satellite television media
for the Asian community in New Zealand. The association with SKY satellite
digital service ensures both the transmission and reception with
crisp and excellent viewing quality.
Our philosophy is to provide quality entertainment programmes,
educational programmes and cultural programmes serving local born
Asian New Zealanders and new Asian immigrants.
We are sure that our contribution delivers up-to-date worldwide
information and prime entertainment for the Asian community in New Zealand.
We wish the above contribution will benefit our next generations to remember
the culture and language they inherit.
As of 2003, Asians took up about 6.6 percents of New Zealand population.
The ethnic groups of Chinese, Japanese and Korean are totalling over
150,000. At the moment, there are over 10,000 subscriber households to
WTV. The total number of viewers is reaching 50,000 which is approximately
35 percent of the market, and along with our 2 radio channels
covering of the Chinese market, WTV becomes one of the most potential
media platform in New Zealand. We believe our quality
television subscriber base and radio listeners will continue to grow.
The growth will attract more Asians with strong spending ability.
